ResearcherID

Publication Lists

Overview

ResearcherID provides three publication lists. Each can be made public (viewable by all visitors to ResearcherID) or private (viewable only by you when logged in). Each list also has a Citation Metrics feature, which shows how many citations were made each year to items in the publication list from Web of Science Core Collection.

Adding Publications

You can add publications to your publication lists by searching Web of Science, uploading an RIS file, or using EndNote. Note: Access to Web of Science, and EndNote are based on the entitlements of the computer where you are accessing ResearcherID. If you do not have access to these products at your current location, then you can use the Upload RIS File function.

To add publications to a list, click the Add link located in the My Publications panel on the left-hand side of your screen, or click the Add Publications button at the top of a publications list.

Deleting Publications

To delete publications:

  1. Click the Manage link located in the My Publications panel on the left-hand side of your screen, or click the Manage Publications button at the top of a publications list.
  2. Select the publications you wish to delete.
  3. Click the Delete Selected Publications button.

Duplicate Publications

If you try to add a publication to a list that already contains the publication, ResearcherID will not add the duplicate publication, and you will see a message notifying you that the duplicate was not added.

A publication is a duplicate if the following fields match those in a publication already on the list:

ResearcherID will recognize a duplicate only if the source and destination lists match. For example, if you attempt to add a publication to Publication List 1 and Publication List 1 already contains the publication, ResearcherID will detect the duplicate and will not add the publication. However, if you attempt to add a publication to Publication List 1 and Publication List 2 (but not Publication List 1) contains the publication, then ResearcherID will not detect a duplicate and will add the publication to Publication List 1.

In addition, if a publication in Suggested Publications matches a publication in My Publications, ResearcherID will detect the duplicate and will not allow you to add it to My Publications.

You may override duplicate detection by following these steps:

  1. Click the Manage Profile button at the top of the My Researcher Profile page.
  2. Select the Publication Lists tab.
  3. Next to Allow Duplicates, select Yes. The default value is No.

Making Lists Public or Private/Renaming Lists

Each publication list can be made public (viewable) to visitors to ResearcherID. If the public option is not selected, then only you will be able to view the lists when you are logged in.

By default, My Publications is set to Public. Publication Lists 1 and 2 are set to private.

To change the privacy setting:

  1. Click the Manage Profile button at the top-right corner of your profile page.
  2. Select the Publication List tab.
  3. Select or clear the Public (Master) check box next to the list whose privacy setting you want to change.

Both the Author URLs and the Citation Metrics can be made public or private, independent of the privacy setting of the list.

Renaming a Publication List

You may give Publication List 1 and Publication List 2 different names.

  1. Click the Manage Profile button at the top-right corner of your profile page.
  2. Select the Publication List tab.
  3. Enter the new name in the box in the Display Name column.
